How do you look after your body?

Think about it for a second…

Are you good to your body? Do you treat it with TLC?

How do you sit (at work, reading the newspaper, scrolling through your phone), run up the stairs, bend to pick things up, do your housework?

Do you look after your body? Do you do the things you should? How much do you exercise, or get some advice & treatment?

I ask this because I see a lot of people who have developed aches and pains and are sometimes unsure about how they came about or why their body decided to stop working so well.

Now I’m just sticking to the physical side of things today but you should also consider how you manage stress levels, sleep patterns and diet - as these things can also effect your body & aches & pains.

On a whole I think a lot of people could do a better job of looking after themselves which isn’t surprising as on a daily basis I’m working with people whose body is complaining in one way or another.

Here’s a few things you might need to consider…

Being good to your body: Dont sit in silly positions…and don’t sit too much - If it makes you ache…its silly

Move more - We should be doing 150 mins of something physical each week.

Be mindful about your movement. - Do you think about your technique when moving around?

Keep your body strong with exercise. - Reduces your chances of developing aches and pains

Get some proper hands-on treatment. - Helps to improve movement and pain

Learn how to relax.

These are just some of the things you need to do to avoid injury and reduce the chances of aches and pains developing.

If your body is moaning about something, seeing a physiotherapist early will help you understand what’s causing the problem, you can find out what you can do to improve symptoms and receive the right treatment that can reduce your pain and get you active.

A physiotherapist can treat your body to improve aches and pains and also teach you how to do a better job of looking after it yourself.
